It was literally bed to desk or couch in seconds. It also meant some extra sleep-in time because you didn’t have to get ready to go anywhere. You literally got up, logged on, and away you went. Firstly, you could work from anywhere – for me, it was at my parents’ farm in the Southern Highlands – and there was no commuting into the city or navigating bad traffic. Getty Images Working from home was the bestĮssential workers aside, when organisations announced their plans to return to the office, you could hear the collective sigh from miles away. Here’s what I wouldn’t mind revisiting because it was truly awesome… Remote work allowed many people to work from anywhere in the world.

It was the ultimate reminder to not sweat the small stuff and just be present. Lockdown provided some really great opportunities to connect and slow down. And personally, if they happened to me again, I wouldn’t be that mad about it. As horrible and confusing as it was when COVID hit our communities hard, there were plenty of lovely moments during lockdown that we should look back on fondly. It has been a terrible time.īut as more and more talk about a fourth wave keeps creeping into our daily conversations and news updates, I can’t help but be a little bit excited about the idea of being “locked down” again. Many families were devastated by the virus, small businesses suffered, and loved ones were separated for far too long after COVID-19 landed on our shores in 2020. Before I get trolled, let me just start off by saying that by NO MEANS do I wish another lockdown or deadly COVID wave upon anyone.
